Rochelle Pangilinan asks fans to stop comparing SexBomb Girls and BINI: ‘This is not a competition’

Veteran performer Rochelle Pangilinan called on fans to stop comparing the SexBomb Girls and BINI, following their much-talked-about collaboration at the rAWnd 3 leg of the “Get, Get Aww!” reunion concert held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The arena erupted in cheers when BINI made a surprise appearance in the middle of SexBomb’s performance of their iconic hit ‘Halukay Ube.’ The Nation’s Girl Group delivered their own take on the classic song before joining the SexBomb Girls for a collaborative production number, blending two generations of P-pop on one stage.

After their segment, BINI also performed their hit ‘Salamin, Salamin,’ which was followed by the SexBomb Girls’ version of the song. The two groups later capped off the moment by performing BINI’s chart-topping anthem ‘Pantropiko.’

Amid the overwhelming crowd reaction, Pangilinan was seen scanning the audience to look for her daughter, Shiloh. In a previous interview with Karen Davila, Rochelle shared that her daughter is a proud BLOOM, which partly inspired her desire for a SexBomb reunion concert.

While the SexBomb Girls expressed gratitude to BINI for accepting the guest appearance, the younger P-pop group insisted that they were the ones honored to share the stage with what many consider the original P-pop girl group in the country.

As videos of the collaboration quickly went viral online, comparisons between the two groups began surfacing on social media—prompting Pangilinan to address the issue directly.

“Pero gusto lang namin linawin na hindi ito competition,” Pangilinan said. “Kaya sana po huwag na tayong mag-compare. Mas maganda kapag nagkakaisa at nagmamahalan.”

Clips of the performance, including one shared by Philippine Concerts with the caption ‘BINI joins SexBomb Girls for Halukay Ube performance,’ drew overwhelmingly positive reactions from netizens.

One fan commented, “I just loved the collab between these two girl bands from different generations. It’s a testament that they aren’t competing with each other, but supporting one another.” Another added, “Wag nang magkumpara—maging masaya na lang tayo para sa SB and BINI.”

Several fans also expressed curiosity—and joy—over how Rochelle’s daughter reacted to seeing her idols perform alongside her mother’s group. Members of BINI themselves amplified the moment by reposting clips on X (formerly Twitter), with Sheena Catacutan tweeting, “ANG FANTASY KWOAHHH huhu thank you and love you po our SexBomb ates GET GET AWHHHHHH.”
