The teleserye comeback of Enrique Gil is nothing short of grand, as ‘A Secret in Prague’ was filmed on location in Prague, Czech Republic.
But despite the stunning European backdrop, the experience proved to be far from easy for Enrique, Andrea Brillantes, and the production team during their 10-day shoot abroad.
One of the biggest challenges they faced was the freezing weather.
Andrea recalled one particularly difficult scene: “Aside from the snow, ‘yung isang scene natin na mahaba po siyang eksena, I think, six pages, tapos, ang dami naming linyahan doon, tapos nanginginig na kami ni Quen.”
She added: “So, every time na magka-cut, tatakbo kami sa van, tapos kumakain kaming pizza, tapos may mga heater kami kasi lamig na lamig kami. Hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yon.”
For Enrique, the project marks a return not just to television, but also to the romantic-comedy genre that helped define his career.
“Masaya po kasi it’s… you know, dito ‘ko in a way, nasanay, eh. So, to be back doing it and so with the new cast, of course, with a new partner,” he shared.
He also expressed excitement about reuniting with familiar faces behind the scenes: “‘Yung production team po na kinuha namin, ‘yung ating mga crew, mga direktor, ‘yung mga AD, ‘yung mga pagdating sa camera, naka-work na po namin from the previous network.”
“I grew up na kasama sila, so parang isang malaking reunion din po para sa akin ‘yon.”
After years away from teleseryes, Enrique made it clear that creating a positive working environment was essential.
“Gusto ko, pagbalik ko, parang good memories lang, happy ‘yung set, happy vibes, ‘yun talaga ang number one na non-negotiable ko.”
“Talagang I made sure na I felt comfortable lang, parang pamilya.”
Another highlight of the series is his first-ever pairing with Andrea Brillantes, which he described as a welcome change.
“It feels good, it feels okay and alright… sanay na po akong, you know, iba-iba ‘yung ano.”
“Pero medyo matagal lang kasi, eh, matagal bumalik ulit sa ganito, so parang nag-full circle ‘yung buhay ko. Parang back to how it was before.”
“So, it’s very refreshing po.”
The tandem of Enrique and Andrea is already generating buzz, especially after early screenings revealed multiple kissing scenes in the first episodes—prompting loud reactions from fans during the premiere at Gateway Cineplex.
Andrea even joked about making the most of their Prague shoot: “Sinulit namin kasi sayang ang view. Pero marami pang mangyayari!”
She also expressed gratitude for the positive reception: “Masaya po kami kasi pinaghirapan namin ito. Binigay namin ang best namin… Worth it po talaga lahat ng mga ginawa namin.”
In the series, Enrique plays Mikoy, a hardworking son who travels to Prague in search of a better life for his family. His journey takes a dangerous turn when he becomes involved with a secret organization tasked to protect Chiara, a fierce and fearless mafia heiress played by Andrea.
‘A Secret in Prague’ premieres April 27 on TV5, promising romance, action, and a fresh new on-screen pairing set against one of Europe’s most picturesque cities.
