Jelai shared the milestone in her latest YouTube vlog, where she documented the emotional moment she informed her family and closest friends that the court had granted the annulment.
At the beginning of the vlog, viewers saw Jelai holding a document, prompting some to speculate that she was about to announce a pregnancy. The mood quickly shifted, however, when it was revealed that the paper contained the court’s decision declaring her marriage legally void.
Upon reading the document, fellow content creator Zeinab Harake excitedly exclaimed: “Single ka na!”
Zeinab then jokingly began listing the qualifications for Jelai’s future partner, bringing laughter to the emotional gathering.
Actor Buboy Villar also celebrated the news, while content creator Donnalyn Bartolome became emotional after realizing what the document was about.
“Salamat, Lord. Thank you!”
Fighting back tears, Donnalyn added: “Ang tagal kong inantay ito for you.”
Actresses Kim Rodriguez and Jhane Santiaguel, who had accompanied Jelai to several court hearings, also expressed their happiness over the outcome.
In the vlog, Jelai reflected on finally closing one of the most difficult chapters of her life.
“Masaya po ako kasi finally, officially nawala na sa mundo ko ‘yung kasal. Pinakamahirap na pinagdaanan ko na chapter ng buhay ko pero sobrang dami ko pong natutunan.”
She also revealed that the annulment had long been part of her daily prayers.
“Yung annulment ko, kasama siya sa prayers ko every day. Tuwing nagdarasal ako, hinding-hindi ‘yun nawawala.”
Jelai shared that she had also decided to withdraw the case she previously filed against the woman who became pregnant by Jon, explaining that her primary goal had always been to obtain her legal freedom and move forward with her life.
Reflecting on where she is today, Jelai said she has learned to be happy on her own and no longer feels the need to be in a relationship.
“Hindi ako basta-basta magse-settle… Mayroon naman [nanliligaw]. Maraming puwedeng maging dyowa pero hindi.”
She continued: “Minahal ko ‘yung sarili ko. Kumbaga, parang hindi ko siya kailangan kasi kumpleto ako eh.”
In another part of the vlog, she emphasized how content she now feels living independently.
“Kuntento ako sa sarili ko na mag-isa lang ako. Alam niyo ‘yung wala kang kaaway kundi sarili mo lang.”
Jelai also revealed that although she continues to live with anxiety and depression, she has found peace through her faith, her family, and the support of her closest friends.
Despite everything that happened, she appealed to her supporters not to attack Jon on social media, saying she continues to pray for his healing.
“Today, I choose peace, healing, and new beginnings.”
Jelai and Jon were married in October 2018, three years after beginning their relationship. The couple experienced multiple separations and reconciliations over the years before ultimately going their separate ways.
