Actor Rommel Padilla has drawn attention online after sharing a social media post criticizing actress Angel Locsin, following her open letter addressed to his brother, Senator Robin Padilla.
The online exchange stemmed from Angel’s statement questioning Robin’s stance on several political issues and asking why he remained silent when she was allegedly subjected to red-tagging.
In her message, Angel wrote: “Ang tanong ko lang, nasaan ka nung panahong nirered-tag ako kahit alam mong hindi totoo? Actually, kasama mo pa nga at kachikahan yung mga nangre-red-tag.”
She also expressed disappointment over what she described as Robin’s changing positions on issues involving China and detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy, before ending her letter with the appeal:
“Tama na, Kuya. Gising na. Hindi pa huli ang lahat.”
Following Angel’s post, Rommel reshared a netizen’s criticism of the actress on his Facebook account and captioned it: “#ReaLTaLK”
The post he shared questioned why Angel allegedly spoke out against Robin but supposedly remained silent on other national issues, including flooding, crime, and the flood control controversy.
Rommel also shared other posts defending his brother’s political views, including one arguing that Robin’s positions should not automatically be viewed as unpatriotic and another claiming it is possible to advocate for social justice and nationalism without supporting armed struggle.
As of this writing, Senator Robin Padilla has yet to issue a direct response to Angel Locsin’s open letter. Likewise, Angel has not publicly reacted to Rommel’s decision to share posts criticizing her.
