Shaina Magdayao shares her first time to be a character with a dark attitude with LionhearTV on January 8, Monday. Asintado is another masterpiece which will air on January 15, Monday in Kapamilya Gold. Filled with action and revenge, Asintado also stars Shaina Magdayao, Paulo Avelino and Aljur Abrenica.
She tackled how it had been her first time to be a rich woman who oppresses others. She also recalled how her wardrobe and make-up changed because of the character she played.
“It is my first time na maging mayaman. Hindi na ako inaapi, hindi na ako ‘yung pinapaiyak. So definitely, a whole lot different. Sa pag-atake, sa pag-acting. Physically palang, it is the first time na ganito pala kahirap yung magbibihis ka, mag-aayos ka ng buhok, lagi kang naka-make up. Eh sanay ako na walang ayos, walang bihis. It’s such an effort but I hope maappreciate ng mga manunuod.”

Shaina admitted that she is in no way like her character but she also proved that she can do anything she sets her mind to.
“Hirap na hirap ako sakanya. Every taping day talagang sineset ko ‘yung utak ko na ‘Okay, I’m Samantha Del Mundo now. I have to be different.’ Kasi nga, mahirap siya and hindi siya ‘yung mga roles na naportray ko na before. Everything yata ng mga natutunan ko when I was younger, lahat ng acting na ‘yun hinuhubad ko siya dito sa role na ‘to. Kasi hindi nga ito drama, hindi siya yung typical kong ginagawa.”
Shaina also stated how learning to become a good kontrabida humbled her. She also shared how she got advice from veteran actresses and directors on set.
“It’s actually humbling kasi I’m learning and nung first few weeks, hirap na hirap talaga ako. Sinasabi ko kela Ate Agot atsaka kay Ate Pie, ‘Ate Pie, ang hirap-hirap ng role ko, napasubo yata ako. Paano niyo ba ginagawa ‘to?’ Kasi siyempre nag-go-good role sila then nag-ba-bad role sila. Then, sinasabi nila na, ‘Masaya kaya!’ Then sabi ko, ‘Ba’t di ko nararamdaman? Bakit hirap na hirap ako?’ Sabi nila, ‘Makukuha mo rin ‘yan.’ And then, ‘yun! With the help of my directors nga and konting tiwala pa sa sarili, naitawid naman.”
Shaina, then, discussed how she feels good in portraying Samantha Del Mundo.
“Now, I’m comfortable with Samantha and ngayon komportable na akong pinaglalaruan ‘yung role ko. So ngayon, sinabi ko sa kanila, after a month, ‘Ayan alam ko na ‘yung mga sinasabi ninyo na ang sarap-sarap pala maging kontrabida, ang sarap-sarap na dark yung role mo.’ Because mas meron kang freedom na paglaruan ‘yung character. Kasi when you’re good, you just cry. Eto hindi, eh.”

Under the direction of Onat Diaz and also, Lino Cayetano.
Armed with love and revenge, Asintado will air on January 15, Monday on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD.
