The most impressive episode for me yet is the Raw show. Not pretentious, keeping the numbers simple and not over the top. The party theme was scene in transitions from hosting to production numbers.
Remember, ang ganda nang transition nung nagsasayaw ang mga artists na parang nasa club, then the they are moving sideways as the camera moves forward to reveal Tim Yap, Heart Evangelista, KC Montero and Raymond Gutierrez at the back. Then after several spiels, Heart’s group introduced the Lady Gaga/Glee inspired number of Kyla, Joshua Desiderio and Kris Lawrence.
Worth remembering numbers:
1) Elmo and Julie Anne’s Pyramid Cover + the Russian/European Contortionists.
2) Glee number of Kyla, Joshua Desiderio and Kris Lawrence
3) Glam Girls having their own individual themes and moment in one production number.
4) Rachelle Ann Go’s Can’t Be Tamed cover, in character from the very first second of her song.
5) Opening act, ang ganda ng pagkakasimula, parang binabangungot ang mga dancers habang nakahiga sa stage (symbolizes the bangungot days of SOP Fully Charged) at biglang may malakas na alarm na nagsasabing ITS TIME TO WAKE UP.
6) Pillow Fight for the closing number, you can the that the hosts, artists are happy with the outcome of the new Party Pilipinas.
7) Admit it or not, the Jejemon number. Though it received tons of negative feedback, remember that the show also caters to the enjoyment of viewers who are considered as minority.
Rico Gutierrez’s debut at Party Pilipinas was epic. Damn, they (production team, artists) almost nailed it, Rachelle Ann Go shined the most at her Pink inspired opening number. After the episode, people realized that Rico Gutierrez, may have set the bar too high, that is why fans are already expecting another great episode from 2 weeks after his debut.
Worth remembering:
1) Lovi Poe, Jonalyn Viray’s solo numbers.
2) Elmo Magalona and Ely Buendia’s duet.
3) La Diva
4) Opening of Kyla, Rachelle Ann Go, Mark Herras, Yassi Pressman, Aljur Abrenica. Rio Osorio + the violinist di ko alam ang pangalan.
5) Nyco Maja, Julianne, Miguel Escueta, Armi Millare, Hannah of Session Road.
Comments on Rico’s debut
1) Several awkward camera shots, wala sa timing and didn’t capture the climax of some numbers.
2) The stage was visually appealing, I like it a lot.
3) The change of the color of the PP logo from violet to red and gold was a good move.
Then come the Independence Day episode of Mark Reyes, the opening number was a little bit off, in my opinion the marching act of Mark Herras and his group was already not necessary. Though I got the point that it shows the continuity of the Pula Bughaw Dilaw teaser to the real episode. The flying act of Mark Bautista and Gian Magdangal was ridiculous.
Worth remembering:
1) Regine Velasquez singing at her best at her worst voice.
2) Glam Girls singing live for the first time.
3) Kyla and Rachelle Ann Go’s Aegis Production Number
4) Francis Magalona Tribute, it was heart felt to see Pia Magalona on screen watching her son Elmo doing a song for his dad.
5) U-Kiss. They are already at home with Party Pilipinas.
6) Songs of Ogie Alcasid number
The recent episode was ok for me. The audio glitches was unforgivable. I told you, people expected too much from Rico Gutierrez after his successful debut, though it lost at the ratings game, and after the hype of the 3D episode. Overall the show is ok, but not as good the the previous episodes.
Worth remembering:
1) The Regine Velasquez Medley of Frencheska Farr, La Diva, Rachelle Ann Go and Kyla including the 3D pictures of these ladies.
2) Jillian Ward’s dance, cute and lovable.
3) Jaya’s rendition of Kissing You with Ballet Philippines.
4) Armi Millare etc. etc.
5) Heart Evangelista signing Love Story (Taylor Swift) live.
