The issue of teen pregnancy steals the spotlight in the first full trailer of the upcoming television series “Bagito,” top-billed by teen stars Nash Aguas, Alexa Ilacad, and Ella Cruz.
Released online on Wednesday, the 2-minute trailer starts off innocently enough. It tackles several of the problems a 14-year-old boy would normally face such as puberty, curfews, and dealing with a crush.
The clip then takes a heavy-handed turn with Cruz’s character, Vanessa, looking on in horror at a positive pregnancy test after spending a night with Andrew, portrayed by Aguas.
It prompts the voice-over to warn: “Tapos na ang paglalaro dahil hindi ka na bata.”
Directed by Onat Diaz, “Bagito” is the first TV series starring Aguas and Ilacad in lead roles. Both were former cast members of the kiddie gag show “Goin’ Bulilit.”
The series is based on the Wattpad novel by Noreen Capili, who is also behind the equally popular “My App Boyfie.” The latter has been adapted as a “Wansapanatym” miniseries about a girl whose ideal boyfriend comes to life through a mysterious app.
