As one of the homegrown artists of ABS-CBN, Kapamilya actor Carlo Aquino hopes that all will go well with the network’s franchise renewal.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Aquino said he couldn’t imagine what it would be like if Congress won’t allow the broadcast giant to operate.
“Hindi ko ma-imagine na walang ABS-CBN. Ito na ‘yung kinalakihan ko. ”
Aquino considers ABS-CBN as his home. Aquino started his showbiz career as a child actor and gained popularity as a teen actor in the late 1990s until the early 2000s.
One of his career highlights was when he received critical acclaim for his 1998 film Bata, bata … Paano Ka Ginawa? that was produced by Star Cinema.
After being with GMA Network from 2006 to 2011, the actor came back to ABS-CBN in 2012 where his career had a resurgence.
He starred in shows such as Give Love on Christmas: Dream Dad as the young Eliseo Javier, Maalaala Mo Kaya: Wedding Gown as Hazzy Go, Ipaglaban Mo: Kaya Ba Kitang Itakwil? as Florante and Maalaala Mo Kaya: Lipstick in 2014.
On 2017, he starred in The Better Half, a series aired on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold afternoon block as Marco and currently, the actor is starring on a primetime action drama series, A Soldier’s Heart as Abe Kamlun.
“Dito talaga ako. Grabe, nagsimula ako, 9 years old. Ngayon I am 34. Dito ako natuto umarte, dito ako natuto kumanta. Sila ang nag-hone ng skills ko. ‘Yun ang gagawin nila sa mga susunod na generations,” he said.
The actor is also encouraging others to show their support to the network.
“Siyempre sila ang makakatulong sa atin, ‘yung mga naniniwala na ang laki ng naitulong ng ABS-CBN sa kanila. Siyempre ‘yung mga OFW natin, ‘yung mga TFC subscribers,” he said.
Despite the allegations and issues that the network is facing, the actor believes that no matter what happens ABS-CBN will continue to serve the Filipino people.
“Kasi para sa akin, with or without a franchise, ABS-CBN will continue to serve the Filipino. ‘Yun na ang ginagawa nila for over 60 years. Pero naniniwala pa rin ako at pinagdadasal ko na hindi mangyayari (that the network’s franchise will not be renewed),” he said.
The actor recently renewed his contract along with Ogie Alcasid, Karla Estrada, JC De Vera, Kit Thompson, and Melai Cantiveros
“Hindi naman nila binibigay ‘yung ganyang contract basta basta. Sobrang ‘yung thankfulness ko, talagang over the top. Paghuhusayan ko pa,” he said.
