- The congressman recently lashed out Navallo for supposedly not allowing him to air his side for a story
Attorney and news broadcaster Mike Navallo countered the claims of Congressman Rodante Marcoleta regarding his news report.
On June 3, Navallo reported that Marcoleta “authored bills granting franchises to companies with more than 50-year franchises”.
The lawmaker denied this but Navallo claimed that this was the truth for it is part of public record.
Marcoleta said Navallo did not give him a chance to air his side as he released the report earlier than their scheduled interview.
According to Navallo, Marcoleta ignored his message when he asked for his side earlier before the airing and publication of his report.
During his interview with Ted Failon on TV Patrol on June 8, Navallo showed screenshots of his conversation with the lawmaker asking to him air his side.
On Viber, Navallo asked Marcoleta to comment on the issue and the latter then suggested that Navallo arrange a press conference for him with other media companies as well.
The lawmaker replied, “I’m sorry for this late reply. I had a lot of reading to do these past 3 days. Can u arrange a presscon at the HOR tom with your colleagues in the other networks, say 10AM. I will address all your concerns. Let me know if OK asap.”

In response, Navallo said he and fellow ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz will host a Zoom meeting for 10:30 a.m. the following day.
Marcoleta then said: “Pls text the names of your colleagues and from what networks.”
Navallo then told the lawmaker, “Let me compile the list sir. Can I get back to you on this?”
On June 4, Navallo sent a message to Marcoleta saying he cannot organize the Zoom press conference after all and asked if Marcoleta’s staff can organize one instead.
“Good morning, Congressman! After discussing with my bosses, I was advised that we’re not allowed to organize press conferences for politicians or gov’t officials. May I coordinate with your staff instead? It will be best if they send out the invitations to the media for your presscon,” the reporter said.
Marcoleta gained the ire of the netizens and some personalities for “bullying” the reporter and for being inconsistent.
