Jennylyn Mercado is ‘fine’ with being bashed to practice her freedom of speech over ABS-CBN’s closure

Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado showed her support for ABS-CBN by sharing her opinion on Congress’s rejection of a franchise renewal.

In Jennylyn’s Twitter post, she defended ABS-CBN employees who might lose their jobs from bashers who rejoiced in the shutdown of the network.

She wrote that “Rejoicing because of other people’s sorrow is not only wrong but inhumane. You are cruel.”

Jennylyn also argued about politicians who violate the law but were unpunished. She also said that “if everyone should be held at the same standard” they should not celebrate.

The Kapuso actress admitted that “No network is perfect” but she believes that the network’s policies can be improved.

Kamusta na po pala ang nagMananita, ang senador na gumala, at ang blogger na nagmass gathering?

Jennylyn couldn’t find the logic in the decision of Congress to disapprove the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN which will add to the unemployment rate of the country.

When the Philippines unemployment rate just recorded an all time high, that’s when the congress decided to terminate a renewal which will cost and additional thousands of people their jobs.

Nasan yung logic dun? pic.twitter.com/bh3wMqwd85

She also reminded the netizens who told her to “shut up” that she has the right to give her opinion and they should learn to respect it.

One quick reminder to the people na nagrereply ng “shhh”, “shut up” o “tumahimik ka nilang”, at “huwag ka mangelam”… ❤️

A netizen advised her to be neutral over the issue so she won’t be bashed but the Kapuso actress said “If being ‘bashed’ is a small price to pay for practicing my right to freedom of speech. Then I am fine with it.”

But I am a Filipino and that alone is enough.
To be neutral or silent in times of injustice is injustice.
