Paul Salas said he has been overwhelmed by the recent bad happenings here in the country as well as abroad.

“Ang daming negative na nangyayari sa mundo,” the 22-year-old actor said in an interview with PEP.

He added, “Si Daddy nga, kapag nanonood ng news, sabi ko, ‘Break muna tayo. Ang dami ng problema.’ So ako, hope for the best muna ako.”

The government’s shutdown of ABS-CBN left many Filipinos devastated and jobless.

The Kapuso star said he felt sad for those employees and artists affected by this.

“Marami rin naman po akong na-meet na mga totoong kaibigan doon at para sa akin, hindi rin naman mawawala ang pagmamahal ko sa kanila.”

He shared, “Marami rin po akong natutunan doon. Eight years, seven years, doon din naman ako nag-network.”

With the closure of his former network, Paul gave a message for his Kapamilya friends.

“Sa mga nangyayari ngayon, kumbaga, hope for the best na lang. Pray. Nandito rin naman ako para sa mga kaibigan ko na nawalan ng trabaho. Siyempre, isa sa passion nila ay ang pag-arte. Kaya sabi ko, pray na lang and trust God kung saan man kayo dalhin ng talento niyo. So, iyon po, para sa akin, hope for the best na lang talaga. Wala na akong ibang mako-comment pa po.”

Paul started his showbiz career in 2004 through GMA Network’s talent search StarStruck Kids. He starred in some GMA shows such as Mulawin.

In 2008, he transferred to ABS-CBN and was picked to play Uragon in a live-action fantasy series Kung Fu Kids. Following this, he appeared as a young version of various Kapamilya series’ main characters including Luis Manzano in Dyosa; Ryan Agoncillo in Pieta; Coco Martin in Tayong Dalawa; Jason Abalos in Kambal sa Uma; Jericho Rosales in Dahil May Isang Ikaw and Albert Martinez in Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo. He also had a major role in Aryana.

After almost 10 years of staying with ABS-CBN, Paul returned to GMA Network in March 2018. He then signed a contract with GMA Artist Center on May 17, 2018.

Currently, he has an ongoing project with Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado which is the Pinoy adaptation of Descendants of the Sun. The young star plays the role of Marty Toledo in the series.

Before the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) was implemented again, Paul expressed his excitement to get back on the set after months of rest.

Paul said, “I’m excited to work again para sa DOTS. Nagpa-plan po kami na end of August to September ay magte-taping na kami kapag negative kaming lahat sa test. Excited na kami, excited na mag-back to work and, hopefully, may aabangan na sila ulit.”

He shared that there are some new rules to be followed by the cast before taping for the series.

“May instruction kami na from August 16 to August 29, bawal kaming lumabas. Dapat ay nasa bahay lang kami, bawal kaming lumabas. Kumbaga, mag-isolate lang kami, self-quarantine, kasi by August 29, ite-test po kami. Kapag okay naman po kami, negative naman kaming lahat, hopefully, ay makapag-taping na kami at makapagbigay na kami ng magagandang episodes.”
