ABS-CBN executives Charo Santos and Lauren Dyogi lead Kapamilya artists in greeting Johnny Manahan on his birthday despite the latter’s accusation against ABS-CBN.
The former Star Magic head celebrated his 74th birthday on February 11.
Dyogi sent his greetings through an Instagram post, crediting Mr. M as the ‘man who built Star Magic’.

Mr. M left ABS-CBN to direct a show on TV5. He left Star Magic, the talent management arm of the Kapamilya network, whom he built with Freddie M. Garcia (FMG).
Recently, he revealed the issue about his ‘power struggle’ concerning ABS-CBN talents. According to Manahan, the Network built its own ‘shadow’ talent center, which appeared to be a counter organization of Star Magic.
“There’s a shadow talent center in ABS-CBN, and they have their own managers and they manage their own stars. (For example) the people from Pinoy Big Brother, we expected to manage these people after they come out of the house. (But) no, they set up their own organization. It was like a counter organization,” he said.
“Dati kasi ‘yung ‘PBB,’ pumupunta sa Star Magic. After a while, ever since they got the idea na maybe they should put up their own, they started picking people who they wanted to pick. In other words, ‘yung latak papunta sa amin,” he added.
With this, Star Magic people were disappointed. So, Mr. M tried to appeal to ABS-CBN’s higher offices but his complaint was disregarded.
“I miss the days when FMG (Freddie Garcia, former ABS-CBN President) and Charo (Santos-Concio, former CEO of ABS-CBN) were around. Because of their high ethical standards, they would have done something about it,” he remarked.
“As FMG used to say ‘kanya-kanyang raket yan!’ Raket namin yan, the discovery and training of artists, not anyone else’s!”
