Stars of the newest Viva movie, Taya Sean de Guzman and AJ Raval, were so comfortable with each other that they do not mind becoming on-screen partners in the future.
“Kami ni Sean, wala namang problema. Sobrang okay sa’min kung magkakaroon pa kami ng susunod na mga projects. Sobrang comfortable namin sa isat isa. Si Sean parang maituturing ko na isa sa mga solid friends ko,” AJ said during the movie’s virtual press conference, Thursday, July 29.
AJ’s co-star Sean agreed with her as well.
“Yun nga, naging matatag pagiging magkaibigan namin. Kahit gano’n mga nagiging eksena namin, mga tambalan namin, ando’n pa din yung limitation namin sa isa’t-isa. And sobrang saya ko na nakatrabaho ko siya.”
The two first worked together in another film of Viva called Nerissa.
Now that Sean will have intimate scenes with AJ in Taya, is he comfortable doing such scenes with the sexy star?
Apparently, he is.
According to Sean, after working with AJ on Nerissa, they developed a bond that made it easier for them to work alongside each other in Taya.
“Sobrang kumportable kami sa isat-isa. Dahil nga nagka-trabaho na kami sa Nerissa, yung previous na naging project naming dalawa. And yun, naging close talaga kami. Kasi alam namin na gagawin namin itong Taya. So ayun nagka-gaanan kami ng loob.”
Their closeness also sparked a rumor about them being text mates. Sean clarified that they were merely checking up on each other.
“Tungkol do’n sa nag-usap kami sa text, kamustahan lang ganyan. Dahil sobrang close nga, naging magkaibigan na kami.”
Since the movie they’re part of is Taya which translates to English as “bet”, AJ and Sean revealed how they would be choosing their politicians in the upcoming elections.
For Sean, he is looking for a statesman that has compassion for Filipinos. The actor further explained that he wants someone that is not corrupt.
“S’yempre doon tayo sa kandidato na—maano sa tao. Kumbaga parang nakuha yung loob ng tao, hindi lang dahil sa pag-promote ng pangalan nila, kundi mayroon din napatunayan and yung hindi corrupt.
“Kasi hindi naman talaga natatanggal yung corruption sa bansa natin. Lalo na ngayong pandemic, maraming nangyayari na hindi natin alam. Kaya dun tayo sa taong may puso. Kumbaga parang dito sa pelikulang ito, may puso itong pelikulang ito,” he explained.
Meanwhile, AJ would like to have her chosen candidate be fierce since she stressed that many of the Philippines’ current legislators were already brilliant. This time, she wants to elect someone fearless.
“Kung tataya siguro ako, sa mga politician na matapang. Kasi marami na tayong politician na matalino pero hindi naman ganun katapang.”
Taya is directed by Roman Perez Jr., the man behind Adan and The Housemaid.
