Janella Salvador wants to prove to her bashers that she can still be an effective artist even after giving birth at 22 years old.
She gave birth to her son Jude in October 2020. Being a mom at such an early age, she receives criticisms online as people thought that she threw away her blossoming career.
However, on her YouTube with Erich Gonzales, Salvador addressed her bashers and said that she wants to prove them wrong.
“Well, for sure, it’s obvious naman na when people in our line of work get pregnant, lalo na at my age, ang daming different opinions and judgments.
“Ngayon, I’m sure mas open na din ‘yung mga tao kasi ang dami ko din namang mga messages na congratulating me and ang dami ding mga positive messages.
“Of course, hindi mawawala ‘yung notion na parang, ‘ay sayang,’ parang ganun. Maraming ganun na parang, ‘sayang, sayang, sayang.’ But honestly, I’m out to prove that nanganak lang naman ako, ‘di ba?” she pointed.
Now 23, she said that giving birth does not degrade her value as an individual as she can still do the things that an artist can.
“Like, I’m still Janella. I just gave birth, but I still can do what I can do. ‘Yung mga nagagawa ko dati, nagagawa ko pa rin naman. I can still act, I can still sing. All I have to do is lose more weight.”
Aside from proving her capabilities to the people, Salvador also wanted to prove to herself that motherhood will not stop her to achieve her dreams.
“Basically, I just want to prove not just to others but also to myself na kayang-kaya. Motherhood doesn’t stop someone from achieving their dreams.”
Salvador is currently in a relationship with Filipino-British actor Markus Paterson, the father of her son.
The couple revealed their relationship via Instagram live on September 12, 2020.
They introduced their child to the public in January 2021 through their joint YouTube account.
