Janet Lim Napoles lawyer, Stephen David complains how difficult to his client to wake up early morning just to attend the P10-billion pork barrel scam hearings.
According to the report of Marlon Ramos of Inquirer.net, David shared that Napoles had been forced to wake up as early 2 a.m. two times a week to attend the hearing which started on Wednesday, January 19, 2015.
Janette Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind behind the scheme to channel the lawmakers’ Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to her fictitious foundations, had already asked the court to let her skip the proceedings, a request that was turned down twice.
“Do you think we’re enjoying this? “We’re hearing cases in the morning and afternoon. I also wake up at 4 a.m. to prepare,” Sandiganbayan Justice Samuel Martires said during the 30-minute break.
“That’s why I have to sleep early and because of that, I have not been able to watch “Pangako Sa ’Yo” and “On The Wings of Love.” That’s why (I’ve managed) to catch only “Ang Probinsyano,” Martires added.
A silent giggles where heard inside the courtroom.
He was referring to the top-rating television drama aired nightly over ABS-CBN which stars Coco Martin and Maja Salvador among others.
Because of the court’s hectic schedule, according to Martires, who is 67 years old, was also forced to skip his regular exercise and added that the court had been hearing more than 900 graft and corruption cases.
Somehow Martires’ comments added some comic relief to the otherwise gloomy court proceedings, which went on with the testimony of witness Marina Sula, one of Napoles’ former employees who blew the whistle on her.
