Calling Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban a “starlet” seemed to be the “icing on the cake” as she responded to a basher on Sunday, February 13.
The troll, in a now-deleted tweet, said, “Isang starlet na naman po ang nag-iingay.”
The actress then responded, “Pero affected ka sa ingay nang isang starlet? Salamat kung ganoin.”

Another netizen castigated the troll for deleting his tweet. However, he was adamant that Panganiban would only get “famous” for his comment.

It is such an insult for her since a “starlet” means that she, despite having lead roles in movies and TV shows, has failed to make a large impact in the entertainment industry.
Panganiban became the subject of criticism from Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. supporters after starring in a series of campaign videos urging the public not to vote for crooked and corrupt politicians.
The short films were even turned into parodies by filmmaker Darryl Yap who made a “Len-Len” series that starred BBM’s sister Sen. Imee Marcos.
Even Cristy Fermin defended the actress after being called a “starlet.”
In an episode of her Cristy Fer Minute show, she pointed out that the definition of “starlet” does not apply to Panganiban since she has already achieved so much in her career.
“Ako naman, hindi naman ako sang-ayon na tawaging starlet si Angelica Panganiban, andami na rin naman niyang nagawang pelikula na talaga namang naghakot ng pera para sa kanyang produksyon,” she said.
Fermin also stressed that the actress, at a young age, already showed how great an artist she was.
“Maliit pa lamang si Angelica Panganiban, nagpakita na ng galing sa pag-arte, at marami siyang nagawang pelikulang tumatak at nagkaroon pa nga ng award.”
Panganiban is most known for her roles in Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa (1995), for which she was nominated for the FAMAS Award and the PMPC Star Award for Best Child Actress. Her roles in the film A Love Story, as well as the television series Iisa Pa Lamang and Rubi, earned her Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominations.
In the 2014 Cinema One Originals and 13th Gawad Tanglaw Awards, she also won Best Actress for her film That Thing Called Tadhana.
