Juancho Trivino clarified that Padre Salvi, his character in GMA’s Maria Clara at Ibarra does not have a bald head.
Maria Clara at Ibarra, the historical portal fantasy series, is based on the novels of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo. Padre Salvi is one of the hated characters as he is abusive and manipulative.
In Trivino’s interview with GMA News on October 24, he said his role as Padri Salvi helped bring out a new flavor in his acting career.
“Isa ‘to sa pinaka nag-enjoy ako na character na gawin. Nawala ‘yung mga limitations ko. Sa pagkakasulat pa lang nakakainis na ‘yung character ni Padre Salvi so habang ginawa ko, ang dami kong naiiisip na mga maliliit at malalaking bagay na lalong magdadagdag sa kanya ng color.”
“Nagga-garner nga ng ganoong klaseng reaksiyon at ‘yun naman talaga ‘yung goal natin as mga actors, ‘di ba? Gusto namin na feel talaga nila na nandoon sila sa istorya, mag-interact sila with us at maramdaman talaga nila ‘yung presencce ng mga characters,” he said.
He then clarified that Padre Salvi does not have a bald head even though it may appear so in the Kapuso series. He said that Padre Salvi intentionally had his hair cut on the top of his head because it was normal practice for priests back in the day.
“Ginagawa siya sa mga bagong kura. Its called the tonsure, so hindi siya panot. Sadya siya noong unang panahon na kinakalbo talaga ‘yung top,” he said.
“There are people like Padre Salvi and Padre Damaso that are brainwashing the Filipino people. History repeats itself kasi kung hindi natin alam ‘yung pinagggalingan natin, we’re bound to be brainwashed by people that think lower of us,” he added.
The latest TV ratings of Maria Clara at Ibarra according to Nielsen Philippines on October 25 was a 14.9% rating.
