Fans could not contain their excitement online since the announcement of the noted novel-type e-series Teen Clash adaptation—especially when the celebrity daughter-singer Jayda Avanzado and Pinoy Big Brother: Otso alum Aljon Mendoza are lead stars.
The limited series Teen Clash is an adaptation of a pop coming-of-age Wattpad story by Ilyn Anne Dangan about a diverse group of young adults who love music and their quest to developing their voices in a school setting.
Zoe, a budding musician played by Avanzado, is determined to join her school’s music jam to atone for a regrettable past as her path crosses with Ice, played by Mendoza, who would assist her in overcoming difficulties as a musician.
Mendoza expressed his excitement for Avanzado and has his all-out support to her first acting series. He also shared that her innate thoughtfulness was instrumental in making their on-screen chemistry for the teen-oriented show work.
During the press conference for the next iWantTFC original, he disclosed that she would cheer him up when he would run out of energy during taping. He cheekily referred to her as his “charger” as the two demonstrated a handshake they perfected between them.
“Napapahawak lang ako sa kamay niya,” he said. “Nare-recharge ako.”
Chemistry runs high between them, which, they confessed, was no happy accident.
Avanzado said their working connection is built on trust. Mendoza also acknowledged that since learning about the project, their bond developed. Both also talked about their strengths and weaknesses as a strong-strategy to tackle their characters.
He admitted that the pairing is truly a combined effort.
“Before pa nung taping, ang dami na ng goals namin na gusto naming magawa. Sobrang collaborative.”
She then claimed, “We’re both working towards one goal.”
She admitted to breaking the ice and initial awkwardness by getting to know him better.
“Habang mas nagkakatrabaho kami, mas nagiging komportable kami sa isa’t isa,” she said.
The two also recognized their love team’s growing fanbase and said they are grateful for the boost.
“Nakikita po namin ang mga efforts nila,” Jayda gushed. “Sobrang nagpapasalamat po kami.”
Director Gino Santos directs Teen Clash, produced by Black Sheep and iWantTFC. It will start streaming on March 17.
