On April 13, Kapuso actor Neil Ryan Sese insisted he could not say no to his role in the upcoming Kapuso sci-fi series, ‘Voltes V: Legacy’.
At the pocket interview for ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ which LionhearTV covered, Sese highlighted how director Mark Reyes revealed his plans for the live-action adaptation during the run of Encantadia (2016).
Sese revealed, “Paano ka magno-no sa isang ganitong project, di ba? Noong, way, way back Encantadia days pa lang nabanggit na ni Direk Mark na gagawin niya ‘tong Voltes V Legacy, talagang sinabi ko sa kaniya, ‘Direk, kahit anong ibato mong role, isali mo lang ako diyan, okay na ko.'”
He then noted the large-scale production of ‘Voltes V: Legacy’, citing that he wanted a role in the sci-fi series.
He narrated, “Talaga actually, may kasabay nga dapat ako na ibang project na dapat gagawin na sapaw sa Voltes V, tapos tinawagan ako ng handler ko, ‘Oh anong gagawin natin?’ Sabi ko, ‘Sorry, pero dream project ko ‘tong Voltes V, kasi ‘yung ibang soap makakahanap pa naman tayo ng ibang soap eh. Dito muna tayo sa Voltes V.'”
He added, “Pinilit ko talaga makasama dito sa Voltes V, kasi parang resume mo na ‘yan as an actor eh. Eh isang napakalaking project siya ng GMA na for sure, tatatak ‘to sa bawat Pilipino.”
He then acknowledged the pressure of meeting Kapuso viewers’ and Voltes V fans’ expectations.
“Sa stage kasi na ‘to, parang tapos na ‘yung pressure, ngayon mas ano siguro, ‘yung pressure mo as an actor tapos na kasi tapos na kami mag-taping. So ngayon ang pressure mo na lang is acceptance ng audience, siyempre di mawawala ‘yung– kasi nga siyempre maraming tao ang sumubaybay diyan siyempre baka mamaya baka barilin ka na, ‘Eh, hindi naman ganyan si Dr. Hook eh.'”
He has said they did their very best, as they studied their parts in the film pretty well.
As for their series, ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ stars Miguel Tanfelix, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, Raphael Landicho, and Ysabel Ortega.
The cast also features Martin del Rosario, Liezel Lopez, Carlo Gonzales, Gabby Eigenmann, Neil Ryan Sese, Albert Martinez, Christian Vasquez, Carla Abellana, Dennis Trillo, and many more.
The Kapuso sci-fi adaptation, directed by Mark Reyes, will air soon on GMA Network.
Aside from that, they also have an upcoming cinema sneak-peak event (Voltes V Legacy: The Cinematic Experience) showing the first three weeks of the series before its much-awaited premiere on primetime TV in May, from April 19 to 25, in SM Cinemas Nationwide.
