On April 25, Kapuso artist Mike Tan highlighted how fatherhood changed him.
At the media event for GMA New Media and BPI PSA campaign, which LionhearTV covered, Tan cited how his mindset about providing for his family changed when he became a father.
“Hindi ko alam kung kaya ko siyang sabihin in words but, I’ll try. Ang laki ng pinagbago, of course, ‘yung priorities mo sa buhay nagbago. Hindi na lang ‘yung sarili mo ‘yung iniisip mo, lumalabas ka, may iba kang iniisip. And of course, you’re not just providing for yourself, you’re providing for your family na–growing family. So my wife, my two daughters, so ‘yun na ‘yung mga iniisip mo.”
He also noted how his priorities and values changed with his daughters, Victoria and Priscilla.
“And constantly, I’m always thinking of them, tapos of course, iniisip mo na rin ‘yung future nila, ano ‘yung paano mo sila palalakihin, paano mo gusto mong maging values nila habang lumalaki sila. Iniisip ko na rin kung saan sila i-eenroll, kasi magpapasukan na sa susunod. Malapit na ang pasukan. So, ang daming mong iniisip magtatabi ka na siyempre ng tuition fee nila, dahil ayan na ‘yung pasukan.”
He also discussed how parenthood changed his maturity as an actor.
“So ang dami, when it comes to maturity naman, sa pag-arte, ang laki kasi ang dami ko ng natutunan, especially sa panghapon na drama natin, lagi kang may most of the time may anak ‘yung role mo. Kung main ka, may anak ‘yung role mo, so mas lumalim na ‘yung pagkakaintindi mo kapag magulang ka sa role mo.
“Of course, when it comes to experience, mas marami ka na rin maio-offer or marami ka na rin inventory kapag umaarte ka, marami kang paghuhugutan.”
As for their series, Tan stars in the Kapuso series Seed of Love with Glaiza de Castro, Valerie Concepcion, Allan Paule, Bernadette Allyson, Tina Paner, Ashley Rivera, Alyana Asistio, and Boy 2 Quizon.
Under the direction of Ricky Davao, Seed of Love premieres May 8 on GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime.
