Mariel Pamintuan, the newbie star who went viral for her humorous antics at the first GMA Gala Night, is now starring in the second Wattpad adaptation series of GMA, ‘Luv is: Love at First Read.’
Pamintuan plays Sandy Bascon, a character who bullies the character of Kyline Alcantara.
In a press conference held on June 8, she candidly shared about her thoughts on potentially being typecast as a ‘Kontrabida’ at such a young age.
“Yun din yung kinakatakot ko kasi gusto ko pang mag-explore, mapunta sa drama, comedy. Bata pa lang ako, ang gusto sa akin ng mama ko ay drama kasi ang forte ko po talaga iyakan. So sana hindi lang kontrabida.”
The conversation then turned towards the topic of social media and the possibility of facing harsh criticism. Pamintuan responded with maturity, saying, “Sana matuwa na lang sila kaysa ibash nila ako kasi may pagka-comedy din ‘to eh. Pwede naman magalit sila para masabi nila sa GMA na effective ako, pero sana maging admirer ko rin sila.”
The newbie was asked about her ultimate goals as an actress. Her heartfelt response showed her desire for a lasting impact, as she expressed, “Hindi ko po talaga hinahangad na sumikat, parang bonus na lang ‘yon. Pero gusto ko pong magkaroon ng impact, maging iconic. Yung mama ko lagi siyang nanonood ng Vilma Santos, Judy Ann Santos, Jodi Sta. Maria. Gusto ko rin maging ganon. Gusto kong matandaan ng mga tao.”
‘Luv is: Love at First Read’ is airing Mondays to Fridays at the pre-primetime slot of GMA.
