On August 23, Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo highlighted the importance of joining projects that promote women’s empowerment.

At the media conference for ‘A Very Good Girl,’ which LionhearTV covered, Bernardo cited why she wanted to do her upcoming projects like ‘Elena.’

“Yes, I mentioned that because ‘yung isang naka- line up na gagawin ko is Elena, which is also about, you know– women.

“So yes, I am well aware and I want to do something na magiging involved ‘yung mga kababaihan because I think ‘yan ‘yung kailangan natin i-tackle sa nangyayari sa mundo ngayon. Nakakatuwa kasi especially the young ones, the Gen Zs, sila ‘yung nagiging representation na ito, ito kami ngayon.”

She then recounted her conversation with Daniel Padilla about working on solo projects.

“So I really talked to Deej (Daniel Padilla), sinabi ko, “Love, is it okay if I want to do something alone muna. Promise, wala akong ka-love team, wala ako ka partner, wala muna, pero parang gusto gumawa ng ganon, tapos siya din. Gusto niyang gumawa, which is the project that he’ll be doing with that naman.

“So it was a personal choice from the both of us na we want to do something na alone muna. So pag alone, sinabi ko, anong gagawin ko? I want to do something na may kinalaman sa mga kababaihan. I want to inspire my fellow women, I want to empower them, and I want them– lahat ng mga babae dito na kung sino ‘yung character na kakapitan ninyo after watching this film.”

She also remarked how much she appreciates being part of the mainly female cast in the film ‘A Very Good Girl,’ especially with them representing women through their story.

“So nakakatuwa kasi when they pitched this with me, the story and the character of Filo is very strong, and empowered, and I want to give justice to that character and hopefully after watching this, isa ‘yun sa mga mare-realize nila. So ‘yun nakakatuwa kasi you can see, puro babae kami na dinala dito.

“And you’ll just see kung gaano katapang, kung gaano kalakas ang mga kababaihan. And every woman, we have our own battle, and nasa atin na lang ‘yung kung paano natin haharapin. And sana through this story, masagot naming lahat or some of your questions regarding that matter.”

‘A Very Good Girl‘ stars Kathryn Bernardo and Dolly De Leon as a mother-daughter duo.

The Star Cinema film features Kaori Oinuma, Chie Filomeno, Gillian Vicencio, and Jake Ejercito.

Under the screenplay of Marrione Dominique Mancol, Jumbo Albano, and Daniel Saniana and the direction of Petersen Vargas, ‘A Very Good Girl’ opens in cinemas on September 27.
