In fact, her ‘I Love Acoustic’ album went gold in the Philippines, and also in other countries including Indonesia and Thailand. Sabrina, Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart latest album is fantastic!
“Actually, I started as a pop singer when I was young. Mga 14 or 16, basta teenager and then I was discovered by Vicor and we make a bossa nova album, which is my first album mga 16 or 17 years old na ako nun. Then I started at MCA Music where they decided to create a concept album na acoustic this time because I was too very young and some people would think na kapag bossa nova, parang masashock sila na 17 lang ‘yung singer for that genre. We decided to make an album to make it more appropriate to my age that time. I was 18, debut ko ‘yung nung sinabi sa akin na tinanggap ako ng MCA Music. And then from there, ginawan na ako ng acoustic album.”
Entitled I Love Acoustic 5, it is composed of several cover songs with 2 original song Sabrina wrote herself. What makes this newest album different?
“It started as a concept album so I was thinking na it was about the music than myself. It’s a concept album at first kaya walang picture, it’s all about my voice, the different arrangements of songs and then unti-unti po nila akong pinakilala.”
Like her previous albums her latest album “I Love Acoustic 5” is said to having a very brisk sales in Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. What do you think is the seeling point of your newest album? Is it Sabrina the voice or the packaging or what?
“I think I would like to believe it’s my voice kasi kung sasabihin kong it’s the hardwork, e lahat naman ng artists nag-iinvest diyan. So siguro pati na rin ‘yung timbre ng boses ko, ‘yung ibang character ng boses ko.”
Aside from her beautiful voice and acoustic prowess., Sabrina can offer more of her talents to her fan. She told us during the blogcon that she can play some musical instruments and she can draw and paint. Some of her artworks can be seen in her newest album.
