Girl Power is coming to Manila!
This year, the 65th Miss Universe will be incredibly different. The judging panel will consist of none other than the past titleholders of the pageant.
The past titleholders that confirmed their assistance are Gabriela Isler (2013), Olivia Culpo (2012), Dayana Mendoza (2008), Jennifer Hawkins (2004), and Porntip Bui Simon (1988).
In addition, our very own Gloria Diaz (1969) and Margie Moran (1973) are also set to be the judges.
Miss Universe 1991 Lupita Jones, who also confirmed her assitance, has arrived in Manila on January 23.
Next on the list is the woman who have captured Filipinos’ hearts—Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres. She has arrived in Manila along with Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori, who will also join the panel, on January 24.
Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen also announced that she is “returning home to the Philippines after 23 years, where it all began.”
This pageant will also mark the return of the first-ever Miss Universe who won and surrendered her crown to marry a Filipino—Armi Kuusela. The 1952 titleholder is set to join her co-beauty queens to judge the delegates.
The 65th Miss Universe will be held at Mall of Asia Arena on January 30. It is also set for a live telecast on the Philippines’ three biggest TV networks, ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5.
