GMA Integrated News’ flagship midday newscast, Balitanghali, celebrates its 20th anniversary this November, cementing its legacy as the longest-running noon-time newscast on Philippine free television. For two decades, Balitanghali has been the trusted “News Authority sa Tanghali,” delivering credible, accurate, and useful news and information to millions of Filipinos right at the heart of their day.
Since its launch on November 11, 2005, the program has been a significant and dependable companion—or “kasalo”—of Kapuso viewers in the middle of the day. Anchored by multi-awarded and seasoned journalists Connie Sison and Raffy Tima, Balitanghali continues to bring viewers the biggest developing stories, both local and international. These commendations include multiple Catholic Mass Media Awards for Best Special Event Coverage, specifically for its in-depth reporting on Bagyong Ulysses and the Taal Volcano eruption.
The program was also honored by the 16th UP COMBROADSOC’S Gandingan Awards for Most Development-oriented Feature Story of “Bantay Kalikasan: Used Face Masks in Batangas Coral Reefs.”
Furthermore, its reputation as a child-friendly and value-laden program is underscored by multiple Anak TV Seal Awards (2008, 2009, 2023, and 2024).
In recognition of its crucial role in public safety, the newscast received the 2023 Wind Vane Award from DOST-PAGASA for its unwavering support as an active media partner in communicating weather and climate information.
