Golden Melody Award Best Female Singer Shi Shi (孙盛希) is releasing a new English-Korean-Mandarin single ‘Falling in Love’, a nod to her Korean roots and a show of her intention to make more international music in 2026.
‘Falling in Love’ is Shi Shi’s first time working with a whole Korean production team, a collaboration with production company Salpot Music Group. The R&B track conveys good feelings inspired by the dramas that Shi Shi has been watching, and the emotions of gradually falling in love. “When I was writing the lyrics and recording the song, I found myself thinking of those male leads and smiling the whole time!” Shi Shi shared.
Choosing to incorporate three languages – Korean, English and Mandarin – in the single, Shi Shi also hopes to express the different emotions as accurately as possible within the local context of each language, allowing different listeners to relate to the same sentiment.
“Whether or not you have a love interest, I hope everyone can feel the touching emotions and happiness when listening to this song.”
Shi Shi is a third-generation South Korean-Chinese singer-songwriter who is based in Taiwan. Her artistry has been recognised in Taiwan at the highest level, having been crowned with the “Best Female Singer” and “Best Album” awards at the prestigious Golden Melody Awards.
In 2020, Shi Shi also gained popularity with her title track ‘Someday or One Day’ for the hit Taiwanese series Someday or One Day (想见你), one of the most popular dramas in recent years. In 2024, she also released a collaborative single ‘Goodbye Spring’ with South Korean jazz artist Lee Jin-ah, gaining attention in both Taiwan and Korea.
‘Falling in Love’ is produced by Korean producer parkhyeon, who previously worked on MISAMO’s ‘Hmm’ and I-DLE member Miyeon’s ‘Petal Shower’. The song was written during a spark of inspiration while Shi Shi was in South Korea recording demos, and quickly completed within two hours alongside lyricist ERIKA LIU online.
With this latest single ‘Falling in Love’, Shi Shi highlights her ambitions to continue making music for an international audience, paving the way for the next era of her music.
