Ate Gay celebrates 55th birthday after doctor once said he might not make it to 2026

Comedian Ate Gay marked his 55th birthday with an especially meaningful celebration after recalling that he was once told he might not live to see 2026 because of his battle with cancer.

Ate Gay, whose real name is Gil Aducal Morales, shared his gratitude through a Facebook post as he celebrated another year of life.

“Sabi ng Doctor ko Nung una di na ako aabot ng 2026 ..aba aba aba at eto abot ako sa Birthday ko,” he wrote.

“Salamat sa inyong lahat lalo na sa mga Anghel ko at Kay Lord Jesus,” he added.

The comedian first publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis in September 2025, saying he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 mucoepidermoid carcinoma, a rare form of cancer.

Since then, Ate Gay has undergone an extensive series of treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy.

By November 2025, he shared another milestone after completing chemotherapy, although his radiation and immunotherapy treatments continued.

His health journey took another encouraging turn in June 2026 when Ate Gay revealed that an MRI showed no tumors in his nose and neck.

However, he later clarified in July that he was not yet cancer-free and remained under treatment.

Ate Gay said he was continuing with immunotherapy and had also undergone CyberKnife treatment as part of his fight against the disease.

Ahead of his birthday, the comedian also revealed that one of the people he considers his “angels” had shouldered another round of his treatment as an early birthday gift.

“Pabirthday sa akin ng angel ko, another 12 session (every 21 days) of immunotherapy. Tiyak na patay ang cancer cells,” he shared.

“Thank you Lord Jesus.”

After everything he has gone through since his diagnosis, simply reaching his 55th birthday has become a major personal milestone for Ate Gay—especially after once being given the frightening possibility that he might not even make it to 2026.
