It’s D for ‘death’ as road to Rio caps off a ‘group of death’ preview on Balls Channel

The Road to Rio caps off its preview into Group D of the 2014 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World CupTM.

In this Saturday’s (March 5) episode, the show discusses Italy’s Azzurri and Costa Rica’s Los Ticos from Group D, which is one of the two dreaded “Groups of Death”.

After looking at former World Cup Winners Uruguay and England in last week’s episode, Atom Araullo, Marielle Benitez, and Ally Borromeo dissect another World Cup winner, the Azzurri of Italy.  The second most successful team in FIFA World CupTM history began their dominance after winning the 1934 World Cup over Czechoslovakia. They will enter Brazil looking for their fifth title and tie the host country for the most FIFA World CupTM wins.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica’s Los Ticos are probably the hungriest team in Group D after missing the World Cup in 2010. The Costa Ricans are not as decorated as the other three squads in their group, but they are riddled with offensive weapons and are definitely capable of pulling an upset this June.

Atom, Marielle, and Aly will also give football fans a sneak peak of Arena Amazonia, the home stadium of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and recall the highlights of one of the best German strikers in FIFA World CupTM history.

Catch the “Road to Rio” on Balls Channel, the official broadcaster of the 2014 FIFA World CupTM this Saturday (March 5) at 6 PM with replays on Mondays at 10:30 AM and Tuesdays at 8 PM and on ABS-CBN Sports+Action, the network’s free-to-air sports channel Mondays at 11 PM.
