Mika Salamanca spoke up against the wave of criticism she received after posting her thoughts about the country’s current political situation.

The ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ Big Winner first drew attention after posting a blunt one-liner on X: “Avoiding politics won’t avoid you, wake up.”
Her tweet quickly went viral and sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens bringing up her previous friendship with Kitty Duterte while others defended her right to express her opinions.
In a follow-up post, Mika Salamanca expressed disappointment over how some people shifted the discussion away from the real issues affecting the country.
“You can always disagree with what I’m saying or even with who I am as a person, but really? Even in conversations about people’s frustrations with the government, some of you still choose to focus on attacking individuals instead of the actual issue,” she wrote.
The actress-content creator also urged the public to direct their anger toward more important matters instead of using political discussions to spread hate against celebrities they dislike.
“Stop using this situation to hate artists that you don’t like. Sana ilagay natin sa tama ‘yung galit natin at sana kung gaano kataas standards n’yo sa mga content creators at artista ganyan din kataas standards n’yo sa mga iuupo n’yo sa 2028,” she added.
The issue surfaced amid the growing political tension involving Ronald dela Rosa, the controversies surrounding the Senate, and the broader conversations online about accountability and governance.
Many supporters praised Mika Salamanca for encouraging political awareness among younger audiences and reminding voters to become more critical ahead of the 2028 elections.
Others also pointed out that instead of discussing the issues being raised, some social media users resorted to personal attacks against celebrities voicing out their opinions.
Following her stint inside ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’, Mika has remained visible in mainstream entertainment through projects including the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Call Me Mother and the mystery primetime series The Secrets of Hotel 88.
