“No guts, no glory” could very well be the life motto of entrepreneur Vedie Delos Reyes, a former shoeshine boy, who now owns a leather goods factory.
Know more about Vedie and his success story in “My Puhunan,” anchored by Karen Davila tomorrow (Dec 17) on ABS-CBN.
As a kid, Vedie loved to draw sketches of bag and footwear designs in his notebook as a way to escape, even for a moment, the grim reality of his life. He was born the seventh of eight children, and went on to work as a shoeshine boy and factory worker while he was still in high school and college.
Vedie’s talent eventually bore fruit when he was hired as a designer for a popular leather company. But his self-made success unfolded when he braved to start his own company.
Before he finished college, Vedie launched “Vedasto Leather Goods” using a capital of P500 to buy goatskin and two bottles of paint. “And the rest is history,” Vedie says.
