Incredible things happen on Twitter each day so says one of the most popular social networking platforms in the world. As it released its yearend report for 2015, an unlikely phenomenon from the Philippines was included in its yearend bests.
It is very notable that most popular tweet for 2015 happened in the Asia Pacific Region. From One Direction’s Harry Styles declaration of his love of Japan, to India’s Bollywoods Great Shah Rukh Khan’s tweet photo of himself with former One Direction star Zayn Malik, to the six week Cricket World Cup, the Korean domination of music and the phenomenal love team from the longest running noontime show Eat Bulaga, Twitter is well and alive in this side of the world.
The second semester of 2015 has been a fruitful one for Philippine Television. It has seen the resurgence of a flagging network, highest ratings for a TV show has been constantly debated and the social networking site Twitter haven’t had a rest day since the phenomenal love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza enters the Filipino noon time habit of watching “Eat Bulaga” Kalyeserye episodes.
Based from Twitter yearend report, Aldub and its corresponding daily hashtags has been a perennial trending topic in Philippines and worldwide.
Last October they had set the record for the most number of 41 million tweets from Oct 23 to Oct 24, 2015. Twitter exec Rishi Jaitly has confirmed that the AlDub hashtag, ALDubEBTamangPanahon, has the record for the most number of tweets for an event thus making it the world’s third most talk about topic for TV in 2015.
This is surely one thing we can be proud of. Kudos to Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Eat Bulaga, the Kalyserye Gang of Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros.
