Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres is extending her vacation in the Philippines! The former Miss Universe is set to have a special appearance on the 22nd anniversary of Kapamilya Sunday variety show “ASAP.”
The good news was announced by Angeli Valenciano, head of artist management Manila Genesis and one of the Filipino friends of Torres. According to Valenciano’s post on Instagram, Torres will be extending her stay in the Philippines to participate in “ASAP’s” anniversary celebration on February 5.
Torres was a renowned Latina who captured Filipinos’ hearts in the early 90s. After passing the crown to the next Miss Universe in 1994, Torres stayed in the Philippines for five years to work in show business industry.
As a celebrity in the Philippines, Torres made a lot of movies including the popular film “Basta’t Kasama Kita” with Aga Muhlach. She was also a performer and a host in “ASAP,” where she became popular with her dance segment SayawNara in which she earned the title “Dancing Queen.”
Torres was also the first and only Puerto Rican to win an award in PMPC Star Awards for Television’s history. The ex-girlfriend of Muhlach was awarded as the Best New Female TV Personality on the said awarding ceremony.
