Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu admitted she felt awkward when she reunited with her former on-screen partner and ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson at the set of their reunion series “Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin”.
At the grand press launch of their new teleserye, Kim shared, “Noong una, awkward talaga, kasi hindi naman kami super friends nito eh.”
The 27-year-old described the communication she has had with Gerald during the ‘awkward years.’
“‘Hi-hello’ lang talaga kami sa ‘ASAP’. ‘Hi, kumusta? Okay naman. Ba-bye.’ Tapos, ‘yung mga eksena namin, chummy-chummy, ganyan-ganyan. Hala, parang after ilang years, okay, sige gawin na natin ‘to. Pero nakakatuwa na pareho kaming professional.”
Kim also recalled that she felt awkward for the people she and Gerald have encountered. “S’yempre, alam naman nila yung nangyari sa amin. ‘Yung di masyadong ano… ‘di ba? ‘Di masyadong kagandahang mga ganap,” she said.
The actress didn’t give the exact details how she ended her relationship with Gerald. However, she guaranteed “okay na ngayon.”
She added, “At least, ngayon, natuto na kami, naging mas professional na kami. I’m very happy na ‘yung mga time na ‘yun, nangyari before pa, noong mga bata pa kami. At least ngayon, natuto na kami.”
The lack of harmony between them slowly disappeared when the reunited love team started working together again for “Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin”.
She emphasized, “Kung may wall, siguro hindi namin ito gagawin. Hindi rin magiging maganda yung produkto namin kung may wall.”
In addition, Kim talked about her past relationship with the 28-year-old actor. She said she learned an important lesson in the seven years that they were separated.
“Hindi ka magiging fully happy kung hindi ka marunong magpatawad,” she stressed.
Kim then explained, “Kasi, hindi naman ‘yung tao ang kalaban mo kun’di ang sarili mo, so mapapagod ka lang. Mapapagod ka kung hindi ka marunong mag-forgive… Magagalit ka, iiwasan mo ang tao, magsasabi ka ng masama. Why not just forgive the person and just go on with your life? Mas happy yung pakiramdam.”
In the end, Kim said with confidence, “Look at us! Okay naman, masaya naman kaming lahat!”
