Barbie Forteza says she wasn’t expecting her teleserye “Meant To Be” to rate so well

  • Barbie Forteza’s name started to become a household name after being one of the lead stars of the remake of Anna Karenina on GMA 7 back in 2013.
  • It was where her acting potentials started to get noticed.
  • Soon, she was given meaty roles which eventually led her to her biggest break to date, the romantic-comedy teleserye “Meant To Be.”

In “Meant To Be,” Barbie had not just one but four leading men namely: Ken Chan, Jak Roberto and Ivan Dorschner and Addy Raj—and they were all after Barbie’s heart.

The Kapuso actress plays the role of the protagonist “Billie” in the said TV series and the series is partly shot in Singapore. Barbie says she never expected “Meant To Be” to do so well in terms of ratings.

She says Filipinos are more after watching heavy dramas rather than something as light as rom-coms during the primetime. So for her show to rate that high meant a lot for Barbie.

Barbie Forteza admits she never really expected her TV series “Meant To Be” to rate so well when the concept was first presented to her.

She figured it might not be something that televiewers would want to see during primetime slot since they were used to watching heavy drama.

“Actually, ‘yung sa amin, ‘di naman talaga kami after sa rating noong umpisa. Kasi tanggap naman na namin na bago ‘yung concept, so may risk talaga kaming isusugal, magsusugal talaga kami. So hindi kami after sa ratings. Ang bentahe namin is ‘yung story,” explains Barbie.

It turned out that the Kapuso actress was wrong. She was surprised when her own romantic comedy series was well accepted by the viewers, making it as one of the top rating shows of GMA 7 during primetime. “Meant To Be” was made in the tradition of a typical Korean-novela that made it such a hit among viewers.

“More kami sa ma-pull off namin ‘yung story na may apat na magmamahal kay Billie sa story nang hindi naman magmumukhang malandi si Billie. ‘Yun ‘yung first goal namin. Hanggang sobrang nakakatuwa na na sobrang minahal ng tao si Billie and ‘yung story as a whole including ‘yung journey ni Billie,” she added.

So who do you watch the upcoming finale of “Meant To Be” on GMA 7 this June 23 and see who’s going to win Billie’s heart in the said teleserye. It promises to give a whole lot of kilig overload to everyone following the said series.
