Gretchen Barretto and friends decided to finally end the wish-granting activity on Instagram. This is due to their viral video where they alledgedly laughed at the poor English of a letter-sender.

Gretchen went live on Instagram days after the controversy went viral and announced that they’re shutting down the activity, but not because they are backing down.
“We are going to bid goodbye not because we are… not because we are gonna back down, but because marami po ang mga tao na nadadamay rito,” she said.
The actress doesn’t want her non-showbiz friends’ reputation to get damaged by the issue. According to her, “Kung ako lang po siguro… by now, alam niyo po na I am made of steel.”

She also stated that she is used to getting bashed being in the showbiz industry for almost 3 decades. Apparently, she said that she will continue to help other people in any way she can, but no longer no IG.
“I am blessed tremendously, and I give back and I try to be fair as much as possible. Hindi ho kami hihinto sa pagtulong sa mga tao.”
Before ending the video, she dared the bashers to a challenge saying, “Why don’t you try and do what we are doing: grant chemotherapy, grant dialysis?”
Some netizens share Gretchen’s sentiment and look up to her for helping the needy.
