  • The 28th SKAL International Makati Tourism Personality Awards recognizes individuals whose achievements and contribution have created a significant impact on the tourism industry

Seasoned international journalist Annalisa Burgos was recognized for her contributions in promoting sustainable tourism at the 28th SKAL International Makati Tourism Personality Awards on August 30 at the New World Hotel in Makati.

Annalisa, who anchors “Early Edition” on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel and serves as the channel’s managing editor, won in the Broadcast Media category.

“It’s a privilege to receive this award and to promote the Philippines as a tourist destination,” said Annalisa. “Part of my goal as a journalist is to spread the love for the Philippines, show the world that our country has so many different things to offer, while also encouraging Filipinos to travel overseas. The world is small and everyone can work together.”

Annalisa currently produces and hosts a segment on ANC called “Food Diplomacy,” where she sits down with foreign dignitaries to discuss food, culture, politics, bilateral ties, and international issues.

Prior to joining ANC, Annalisa worked as a journalist in eight cities around the world, including as a writer for The Food Channel in the US and host of a food travel series on Singapore-based Channel News Asia.

The 28th SKAL International Makati Tourism Personality Awards recognizes individuals whose achievements and contribution have created a significant impact on the tourism industry. Winners from ABS-CBN in 2017 include head of entertainment production Laurenti Dyogi and head of Themed Experiences Inc., Maria Rosario “Cookie” Bartolome.

The SKAL International Makati, an association of travel and tourism professionals celebrating its 37th founding anniversary this year, confers the awards in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), New World Makati Hotel, and Rotary Club of Manila.

Joining Annalisa in the winners’ circle this year are Raoul Esperas of the NAIA Press Corps, Joanne Rae Ramirez of the Philippine Star, Eddie Monreal of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Lawrence Li Tan of LYK Group of Companies, Capt. Peter Tay of Boracay Adventure Travel & Tours, Gov. Houdou Nakamura of Nagasaki Prefecture, Kingson Sian of Resorts World Manila, Akihiro Hosoya of All Nippon Airlines, Deedee Ledonio of Coltrans Exhibits, Andrea Domingo of PAGCOR, former minister of tourism Jose Aspiras, Richard Masselin of Pan Pacific Hotel.
