QUEZON CITY, Philippines – On October 4, Thursday, model-actor-entrepreneur Ervic Vijandre joined the Rotary District 3780’s press launch for its upcoming fundraising cycling event called ‘100 Years of Inspiring People.’ The said initiative is set to happen on Sunday, October 21, 6am at Arco Via, C-5 Pasig City.

Vijandre, who personally bikes says he finds this particular movement to be fulfilling since it allows those who participate to stretch those muscles and help contribute in saving a life.
According to him, “Mga Kapuso actors at kung sinuman ang makasalubong ko, tatanungin ko kung gusto mo bang mag-bike?”

Since the event is set on a Sunday, he is hoping that there’s a huge possibility that Senator Manny Pacquiao could join.
Governor Pastor ‘Mar’ Reyes of Rotary International District 3780 was the genius behind the said concept as it coincides with the 100 years of the organization’s advocacy of transforming lives in the country during World Polio Day.
Since 1985, Rotary has taken the fight against polio and is now close to eradicating it with only four countries battling the said disease. Polio cases have been identified in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and recently in Papua New Guinea.
Apart from polio, Rotary also seeks to give attention to the rare diseases that go unnoticed in the Philippine setting such as Maple Syrup Urine Disease and Hunter’s Disease.
Expected to join the event are 20-30 cyclists composed of celebrities, professional athletes and Rotarians who will bike from The Villages in Clark to ArcoVia City in Pasig. However, the event aims to accommodate 400-500 participants. For only Php850 registration fee, one can get a cool dri-fit shirt, finisher medal and a loot bag.
