- Manolo Pedrosa shared why he suddenly disappeared from showbiz scene.
- He was diagnosed with a serious illness that required two years of therapy.
- Manolo returned to the showbiz circuit as a Kapuso and not as a Kapamilya.
Manolo Pedrosa stepped into the showbiz spotlight when he entered the “Pinoy Big Brother” house in 2014.
His fellow housemates were Daniel Matsunaga and Joshua Garcia.
Pedrosa was evicted from the House after 3 months. He made several guest appearances on Kapamilya shows, then suddenly disappeared.
He explained that it wasn’t his wish to step away from the limelight. The reason was more serious.
“I was taping a show then when my back suddenly ached, sobrang sakit talaga.
“Hindi na ako nakapag-take and it was diagnosed as a bulging disc sa likod ko.
“Ni hindi ako makapaglakad nang maayos at hindi rin malaman what caused it. Bigla na lang lumabas.
“The doctor wanted to do surgery on me but I opted for alternative medicine, healthy diet and habits, and a special workout that will help in rehabilitating my disc.”
He underwent therapy for two years. When he’s healthy enough to work, GMA took the chance in snatching him from his former Network.
“Then when I felt better, I went back to school and after a while, na-miss ko ang showbiz so I asked my manager kung puwede ba akong bumalik.
“I realized I really love acting and my parents are supportive naman. Dinala ako sa GMA-7 and I signed a contract with them last July.
“Suwerte naman, nabigyan nga ako agad ng bagong show, ‘Pamilya Roces’, and I’m really so happy kasi puro magagaling ang mga kasama ko rito, including our director, Joel Lamangan.”
The former PBB housemate admitted that PBB greatly helped in his career not just for exposure, but for his professional maturity as well.
“I was still immature then, teenager pa ako. I am now definitely more serious and determined sa trabaho ko and I know the importance of hard work.
“Hindi naman pera lang ang habol ko rito. I’ve realized acting is really my passion at gusto ko talaga ang trabahong ito.”
Manolo Pedrosa is now part of the Kapuso series “Pamilya Roces” in which he will play as Gabbi Garcia’s love interest.
