Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has successfully launched its first-ever street battle in the Philippines on November 17 and 18 at Barangay 159 Multi-Purpose Plaza in Malibay, Pasay City.

Dubbed as “Mobile Legends: Bang Bang LIGA,” the three-street battle event aims to gather non-professional e-sports legends in the country.

As a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang believes that there are still excellent players in non-professional league. Therefore, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang hopes to provide them an arena to show their fabulous skills though a street battle called LIGA.

Since it was announced on October 30, avid players of Mobile Legends Bang Bang celebrated because a LIGA will finally happen in the country. Hundreds of squads have immediately signed up to be part of the three street battles that will happen in different barangays in Metro Manila. 

MLBB Vice President Cherry Xia says, “As a globally-launched game, MLBB has always placed a strong focus on local popular culture and aims to connect with players at a deeper level. 

“LIGA being a popular culture within the Philippines, and among MLBB players, holding a LIGA theme event was a natural decision for us.” 

“Moreover, LIGA and MLBB share a lot of similarities, both of which emphasize the spirit of competition and teamwork. Players of all skill levels can experience the thrill of competition and teamwork. Anyone can be a legend.”

Meanwhile, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang LIGA launch was graced by Pambansang Bae and a self-confessed Mobile Legends enthusiast Alden Richards. 

He joined Zeus and Z4PNU as a shoutcasters during the first day of the two-day challenge. The Kapuso actor said he has been playing Mobile Legends since it was introduced in the Philippines in 2016.

“I started playing when the game started here in the Philippines,” said Alden. 

So, when he found out that Mobile Legends Bang Bang is holding its first street league in the country, he made sure not to miss the event. 

Alden said, “I’m so excited to be here. Galing pa akong Broadway, bini-beat ko yung traffic para umabot ako kasi last round na raw.” 

As an avid player, Alden said his usual default hero is Kagura.

However, he said, “Madalas kapag rank game, Leomord talaga.”

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang LIGA’s three street battle is a two-day event, which will be joined by 64 pre-selected squads. 

The groups’ e-sports skills will be tested in a best-of-one elimination on the first day.  

Then, the top 16 squads on the first day of LIGA will return on the second day for the semi-finals and championship rounds, where the best team will be hailed as a winner.

The first LIGA was won by NexPlay Squad. 

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang LIGA’s second street league will be held on November 24 and 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Barangay Dona Imelda, 145 Bayani corner Guirayan streets, in Quezon City. 

The last street battle will be held on December 1 and 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the SM Mall of Asia, Seaside Boulevard in Pasay City. MLBB aficionados can watch the game live on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s official Facebook page.

The prize pool of each Mobile Legends: Bang Bang LIGA is P55,000 cash and 100,000 diamonds.

After entering the Philippines for over a year, Mobile Legend: Bang Bang has become one of the most popular apps among Filipino e-sports fans. 

In fact, a Filipino professional squad already won as champions in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) of 2018. 

As a MOBA game, MLBB especially emphasize on sprite of competition, team work, skills, and thirst for honor.  

To hold LIGA for players, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang wants to offer non-professional players a stage to show themselves while keeping its core message for all its players about the sprite and belief that “Anyone can be a legend”.
