Boobay and Tekla takes comedy very seriously. In an interview with GMA Network, they shared the lessons they have learned in their digital comedy program, The Boobay and Tekla Show.
They hoped to be relevant in current issues even when they are making people laugh.

Boobay learns discipline and presence of mind.
According to Boobay, discipline and presence of mind are always needed when hosting a show.

“Kailangan may presence of mind ka palagi. So before ng taping kailangan talaga magkaroon ka ng discipline. Disciplined ka dapat sa sarili mo na before ka sumalang dyan, naka-focus ka or else lulutang ka. Alam mo ‘yun, mararamdaman ng audience ‘yun eh kapag wala ka sa wisyo… Bago mag-taping talagang sine-set mo na ‘yung mind mo na ‘Ah, kailangan ko mapasaya itong episode na ito.”

Tekla shares about mindfulness.
Tekla agreed and pointed out that mindfulness is also needed when doing a punch line.

“Maging responsible ka sa bawat sasabihin mo. At the same time, ‘yung bibitawan mo ay ‘yung may kabuluhan. Though nakakatawa, ang comedy nandun lang naman ‘yan, pero since we’re catering na comedy with sense, may laman.”
Boobay and Tekla hopes for relevance in comedic skits.
Boobay explained that research is important, noting comedy isn’t just throwing jokes to the audience.
“Importante din ‘yung may impormasyon kang nakikita kasi minsan pwede ka rin kumuha doon ng pwede mong maibato sa audience, ganyan. Importante rin talaga ‘yung nagre-research, hindi ‘yung basta-basta lang kasi may iba-ibang klase ‘yan ng pagpapatawa.”

GMA Network released a teaser on Friday, December 21. The teaser included Boobay and Tekla introducing their new show and hoping that viewers would watch it.
