Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla last year’s movie ‘The Hows of Us’ earned almost a billion. Kathniel fanatics are no doubt looking forward for another project this year.
In an open letter posted on Preview last Wednesday, March 13, Kathryn said that she and Daniel decided to take a break as a tandem for now. Kathryn explained, “There’s no way I can talk about growth without mentioning DJ (Daniel’s nickname) because he’s a big part of what makes me who I am today. He’s played a crucial role in helping me become not only a better actress but also a better person.”
“Some of you might already be aware of this, but late last year, we made a mutual decision to not accept projects together this 2019. We both know it’s going to be tough for both of us and maybe even tougher for our fans, but we really gave it some thought, and while there’s nothing we want more than to make you happy, we’d appreciate if you can give us this year to pursue our individual growth this time around,” she added.
This year, Kathryn’s new movie project will pair her with the Pambansang Bae, Alden Richards, one of the top leading men of rival network GMA Network. Alden took this project as a rare chance to work with Millennial Showbiz Princess Kathryn Bernardo and an opportunity to challenge himself.
“It’s a great honor and experience kasi I’m really in that stage of exploring the craft and my capability as an actor,” he said.
More so, he agreed to the project because it also meant that he gets to work with Garcia-Molina, a director he looks up to, mainly because he’s a fan of ‘One More Chance.’
“To be directed by someone who made that film, sobrang fan po kasi ko nung John Lloyd [Cruz] and Bea [Alonzo], parang total package na po — wala na po akong hihilingin, sobrang saya ko po na nabigyan ako ng chance,” he gushed.
This is the first time Bernardo and Richards will be working on a movie together.
It’s also the Star Cinema debut for Richards, known as the other half of the popular ‘AlDub’ love team with Maine Mendoza.
Kathryn and Alden’s fans promised to watch the new and exciting team up. Reactions of both fans are overwhelmingly positive on Twitter.
Netizens believe that like Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo who already had several projects with the Kapamilya Network, Alden will feel at home, as well.
Dingdong admitted that he is “at home” in Star Cinema, the reason why it was never so hard for him to accept their offers.
There’s no target release date yet for the new movie but filming is scheduled to start next month.
