GMA Network’s newest upcoming fantasy drama series ‘Dragon Lady’ is all out in its preparations as they unfold a story about love and revenge and is set to show features of Chinese traditions and culture.
To rightly execute the Chinese vibe, one of the producers engaged the services of an expert to consult and guide the performance and flow of the series. This is businesswoman/producer Rebecca Shangkuan Chuaunsu.
During the press conference of the show, Rebecca shared her experience and stated, “Had a grand time as Chinese translator/consultant in GMA 7’s Dragon Lady! Xie xie!”
She added that aside from consulting in the series, she also keeps an eye on the pronunciation of the actors’ Mandarin accent and the execution of the scenes relating to Chinese tradition.
Recently, GMA Network shows has been receiving corrections from netizens for the faulty executions of some scenes. Indeed viewers tend to be more observant and are already very vocal on their observations. That is why, to avoid criticisms, the show is being more careful.
The team also spent much time and effort placing prosthetics on star Janine Gutierrez to achieve the dragon-like features that her character portrays.

The story will revolve around Celestina, a woman who will be possessed by a mysterious dragon statue that will bring luck and curse into her life, and she will obtain a dragon-like feature. Eventually, she will meet Michael, an adventurous and mysterious Filipino-Chinese bachelor who will later fall for Celestina.
‘Dragon Lady’ premieres on March 4, 2019 and stars Janine Gutierrez and Tom Rodriguez, under the direction of Paul Sta. Ana. It is an upcoming fantasy drama series, replacing the timeslot of ‘Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko’ on GMA Network’s afternoon prime bloc.
