Barbie Imperial was paired with JM de Guzman for the ‘PHR Presents: Araw Gabi’ series and their tandem became known as ‘JuanBie.’ They were inseparable since then, up to a few months after the series’ finale aired. Showing their sweet gestures on the Internet, fans speculated that they were a romantic couple.
However, their relationship became fragmented for no apparent reason.
On De Guzman’s latest interview on ‘Tonight with Boy Abunda,’ he shared that he ‘tried to pursue’ Barbie after their ‘Araw Gabi’ show but the pressure on their careers hindered their romantic affair.
On the other hand, Imperial finally broke her silence as she revealed that De Guzman’s statements are false on his ‘Tonight with Boy Abunda’ interview’.
She also said that she got hurt when De Guzman said that they only dated for a month.
“Para sa akin, lagpas na siya ng isang buwan, para sa kanya pala, magi-isang buwan pa lang…kasi po ‘yung ibang detalye lang [sa mga sinabi niya], hindi ko lang siya na-take kasi siguro kahit one percent naman minahal mo naman ako ‘di ba, bakit kailangan magsinungaling?”
She refused to reveal the real reason of their breakup for the sake of De Guzman’s reputation.
“Wala po, eh, kasi Tito Boy alam ko na kung paano siya i-bash ngayon ng mga fans namin, para sa akin, may pinagsamahan naman kami noong tao, kaya ko naman na sa akin na lang ‘yun,”she explained.
“Triny po namin talaga, hindi po talaga mag-work kahit anong gawin,” she pressed.
“Kaka-break ko lang din po noon eh, kay Paul (Salas). Parang masyadong mabilis. July noong nag-break kami ni Paul, tapos si JM lagi po talaga siyang nandoon para sa akin. Sinabi naman po namin noon na hindi pa siya okay din. So kaming dalawa po, dalawang tao na wasak, tina-try namin pareho ayusin at buohin ‘yung isa’t isa, pero hindi po pala pwede ‘yun, dapat at least may isang tao na buo kasi ang hirap pong wasak ka na nga, wasak din ‘yung aayusin mo. Paano mo aayusin ‘yung sarili mo?”
She explained that she can’t stay friends with De Guzman but she’s open for reconnecting with him in the future.
“Ako hindi ko po talaga kaya [maging magkaibigan kami] pero hindi ko naman po tutuldukan doon kasi hindi ko naman po alam ang mangyayari sa mga susunod na araw. Pero sa ngayon po talaga, hindi po talaga…hinihintay ko lang po ‘yung oras na makayanan ko na. Ayaw ko po magsalita ng masama tungkol sa kanya, kasi alam ko po someday, magiging okay,”she concluded.
Barbie appeared in the Piolo Pascual, Coleen Garcia, and Dawn Zulueta starrer, ‘Love Me Tomorrow’, released back in 2016 while JM de Guzman starred with Arci Muñoz on their 2019 movie ‘Last Fool Show.’
