This Saturday (January 25), join Howie Severino and his team in I-Witness as they tell the story of a young Pinay and her dream of conquering the hardest horse race in the world.
Twenty-five-year old Solana Perez wants to be the first Filipina to race in the Mongol Derby, said to be the hardest horse race in the world, with over 1000 kilometers of rough terrain.
But first, she must master herself.
Born and raised in Baguio, Solana grew up with horses, and with the people who take care of them in the various places where tourists ride. As an adult, she developed other interests, and became a visual artist and designer. Then she went through a personal crisis, and nearly lost her life. As part of her healing, she turned to horses and one in particular. Her friendship with a Baguio horse whisperer made her see her favorite animals in a new light.
As she recovered, she became fixated with the Mongol Derby as her ultimate test.
Howie and his team learned of Solana’s dream through her Instagram stories, and her honest accounts of her personal struggles. They saw an opportunity to tell the story of a young woman’s quest – to finish a race and vanquish her demons.
Watch I-Witness this Saturday, after Kapuso Movie Night on GMA-7.
