While the Senate was busy conducting hearing for the ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal issue, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano spearheaded the relaunching of the Kobe Bryant exhibit at the House of Representatives.
It can be recalled that Cayetano emphasized that the Congress was too busy dealing with other legal bills that were submitted right before the giant network has applied for its 25-year franchise renewal.
As a result, Cayetano stated during the interviews last week that discussing the ABS-CBN franchise renewal issue is not an urgent topic, and thus, they cannot prioritize the network’s application.
Cayetano has said he believes that discussing the network’s franchise issue will just suck the energy of the 18th Congress.

Cayetano stated: “Kailangan natin ng lamig ng ulo… Kung tayo ay mag-hearing ngayon, it will suck all the energy of the 18th Congress. Mapapabayaan ang ibang mga importante. There has to be some way that we can soberly discuss this. Magpaliwanagan tayo. Huwag kayong mag-alala dahil hindi naman mago-off the air ang inyong mga paboritong show. Pero sa ngayon, napakaraming importanteng inaasikaso ng Kongreso.”
While Cayetano has been repeatedly stating that there are more important cases than ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal that need the attention of the Congress, he earned the ire of netizens:
