Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado could not believe that corruption is still widespread in some government departments, such as PhilHealth, especially in this time of a pandemic.

The actress asked if there will come a time when those in power will stop abusing ordinary citizens.
“Kelan kaya matitigil ang pananamantala ng mga tao na may kapangyarihan sa ordinaryong Pilipino?”

This was her response to the news that at least three Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) officials resigned from their posts out of frustration with systemic corruption within the Department.
According to a source, allegations of corruption were disclosed during an online meeting between PhilHealth officials at the beginning of Thursday night.
“Earlier this evening, sa Zoom meeting ng PhilHealth, nagkabistuhan ng corruption, nagkasigawan! As of now 3 officers resigned because of disgust,” the source said.
PhilHealth has been plagued by numerous corruption problems in the past, including a scandal that broke last June 2019, when some officials allegedly set up a system in which patients continue to collect dialysis care payoffs even though they are already dead.
Later that month, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III went under fire after it was reported that the PhilHealth Provincial Office in Pangasinan was able to rent land belonging to his son.
Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado has been trending for her strong stance against PH Government and for her support of ABS-CBN when the network’s franchise application was denied.
She also called out the Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III for not wearing a mask properly.
What did we expect? Magsuot nga ng mask ng maayos hindi niya magawa..
