Korina Sanchez has announced that her series Rated K continues to live on with a new name Rated Korina.
She made the announcement via Instagram and said her new show will venture online.
One fan had to ask if the rumors of Korina moving networks were true as well.
Netizen @phoexzz asked, “is that true? Iiwan mo na po ang abs-cbn?”
Korina then answered a short but an open-ended answer, “@phoexzz Nawala na ang prangkisa eh…”
Back when ABS-CBN was still battling for its renewal of the franchise, Rated K was one of the shows that had been briefly suspended and after the franchise had been discarded, Korina Sanchez was one of the big names that had been let go by the network during its retrenchment process.
A lot of people thought Rated K wouldn’t come back since it was replaced by Iba ‘Yan, hosted by Angel Locsin, on the Kapamilya Channel.
But then, through her Instagram post, she made the announcement that Rated K would live on, “Yes. Rated K lives on. Watch out for what my lean and mean team put up for you this week on the Rated Facebook Page. We had so much fun shooting this episode. Masaya. Maraming matututunan. Sunday. 6:45 pm.”
She said viewers should continue to learn new things from her show, which will air on Sundays at 6:45 p.m. The broadcast journalist said that although the ABS-CBN network has been denied their request for a renewal of the franchise, they will continue to provide entertainment to the public.
“Nawalan kami ng franchise. Pero hindi kami nawalan ng pagmamahal sa inyo. Nandito pa rin kami. Walang iwanan,” she said in her post.
After 70 legislators chose to reject the renewal of the network’s franchise by shutting down its free-TV and radio broadcasts, ABS-CBN began its retrenchment process that affected thousands of workers and entire divisions.
More ABS-CBN units bid farewell due to a declined franchise offer. Given the attempts of ABS CBN to retain most of its staff, all they can do is try to minimize the effects of the refused franchise.
“We are doing all we can to mitigate the pain that will be felt by those affected, including paying out separation and retirement benefits and providing job placement programs, as much as it hurts us to implement this retrenchment program, this is the only way to ensure the continued employment of the rest of our Kapamilya.”
