In Kyle Echarri’s vlog, Darren Espanto clarified again that he is not gay amidst the persistent rumors about his sexuality.
According to Darren, his sexuality has always been questioned because of his song choices and high singing voice.
“Ever since The Voice Kids, when I started singing songs that are always for girls or like I have a high voice in general, they always assume my sexual preference pretty much,” said Darren.
Darren clarified that he is straight despite the rumors.
“But I would like them to know that I’m straight,” said Darren.
In 2018, Juan Karlos Labajo and Darren were in a Twitter feud wherein JK allegedly tagged Darren in a post saying ‘gayness at its finest’. This incident went viral and may have caused the rumors about Darren’s sexuality to persist.
Both artists came under fire from netizens as they used ‘gay’ as an insult. Darren has since apologized for his behavior in social media.
He was in a romantic relationship with artist Kyline Alcantara, Andrea Brillantes, and Ylona Garcia.
