Celebrities and netizens took up cudgels for Vice President Leni Robredo after President Rodrigo Duterte spewed lies about her.

In his weekly late-night address, instead of reporting government efforts and detailing rehabilitation plans for the typhoon-hit provinces, Duterte wasted his time—and ours—by ranting against the Vice President.

Durterte accused Robredo of making a big blunder and lying after alleging that the Vice President was the one who started the #NasaanAngPangulo Twitter thread.

President Rodrigo Duterte starts his address by criticizing Vice President Leni Robredo. "Before I proceed any further. I would like to just give caution to the Vice President. She made a blunder, a big one, and she practically lied making her incapable of truth," Duterte said.

Robredo however didn’t just brush off Duterte’s accusation and quickly addressed the lies by calling out whoever advised the President.

In a tweet, VP Leni denied having a hand in netizens clamoring about Duterte’s absence during the onslaught of back-to-back typhoons.

“I just called out Sec Panelo for peddling fake news. I am also calling out whoever peddled the fake news to the President, kaya ganito siya ka pikon. I never said ‘Where is the President’? You can review all my tweets.”

She also shared a video of how busy they are at the Office of the Vice President receiving donations for the people affected by the typhoons.

Meanwhile, several celebrities and netizens took to social media particularly Twitter to air their reactions about Duterte’s late-night meltdown.

In a tweet, Kapuso star Janine Guttierez felt helpless with the president asking advice on how to unfollow him for the sake of mental health.

“how to unfollow president? pls advise”

Jules Guiang meanwhile shared VP Robredo’s tweet reaction to Duterte’s rant affirming Panelo as fake news peddler.

Kapamilya journalist Mike Navallo shared a Fact Check tweet about Duterte’s rant against the VP.

In his tweet, Navallo said Robredo never implied in any social media post that Duterte was missing during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses. He added that it was the netizens who started asking #NasaanAngPangulo.

“FACT CHECK: VP Leni Robredo never implied the President was missing during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses. #NasaanAngPangulo trended online because social media users were asking for the President’s whereabouts before and during the typhoon, as has happened before.”

Former Kapuso host Kiko Rustia also shared his reaction saying he longed for the Vice President to push back against Duterte’s uncalled-for rants adding Robredo will always have his support.

“Matagal ko na inaantay na pumalag ka sa pang aabuso ni Duterte sayo Ma’am @lenirobredo. Nasa likod mo kami. #NasiraanAngPangulo”

Meanwhile, here are other thoughts from the netizens regarding Duterte’s rant and Robredo’s push back.

“Ano ito? Na-insecure siya? Naman. Tumutulong yung tao, hindi nakikipag compete sa ‘yo. Bumalik ka na lang sa task-force-task-forcesan mo.” @bartguingona

“VP Leni never made a joke about you. She never asked about your whereabouts. You were the one who uttered sex jokes which were totally unnecessary and uncalled for. You are obviously afraid because people are relying heavily on VP Leni and are trusting her more than YOU!” @rryyyaaaannnn
