PTV4 General Manager and certified DDS Kat De Castro has caught the ire of social media personalities and netizens after parroting President Rodrigo Duterte’s meltdown.
Following Duterte’s outburst against Vice President Leni Robredo, De Castro spread on social media Duterte’s obvious lies against Robredo.
Without giving context, de Castro intentionally fanned the flames of Duterte’s lies against the Vice President where he accused Robredo of lying. Duterte also claimed that it was Robredo who started the Twitter trend #NasaanAngPangulo. And even going the lengths of accusing the Vice President of sleeping around in different houses.
Because of that, netizens and Twitter personalities slammed de Castro for her shameful act.
In a tweet, award-winning writer Juan Miguel Severo chided de Castro by saying he can understand why she is not a fan of the VP because her father’s term as a VP made her aware that the Vice President’s role is supposed to be useless.
“Kat De Castro isn’t a fan of the VP being so proactive and I understand. Her father’s term taught her that a VP is supposed to be useless.”

Former PTV news anchor Jules Guiang meanwhile shared a series of tweets blasting de Castro over her social media post.
In his first tweet, Guiang recalled how de Castro mentioned that she too has disagreements with some government policies giving him the impression that she’s different.

After learning about de Castro’s Facebook post about Duterte’s blatant lies about Robredo, Guiang was disappointed that she did not bother to fact check Duterte’s claims.
“But now since you posted this, let me try to break it down for you. As General Manager of @PTVph, have you or even asked your team to research if VP Leni really started the #NasaanAngPangulo trend? If you didn’t, well the answer is no.
“It was an organic hashtag that started on Twitter, mind you, not by trolls but real people. Well to be fair, you didn’t say your piece here, but in my humble capacity as a Filipino, I won’t let this new script spread on social media.”

He then schooled the PTV4 exec saying more than anyone else she should be the first to know the truth instead of spreading fake news and adding how shameful what she did.
“You, as GM of the state network, should even be the first one to practice TRUTHFULNESS. Pwede naman kasing hindi mo na lang pinost, but you did. So you are spreading FAKE NEWS. This is shameful, GM @KatDeCastro. Nakakahiya.”

Meanwhile, several netizens have also slammed de Castro over her shameful social media post.

Meanwhile, Salvador Panelo who happened to be the source of Duterte’s meltdown already apologized to the Vice President.
He said he always welcomes Robredo’s efforts but he insisted though that the Vice President’s problem is making her look like she’s the only one working in this government every time she goes out.
“I apologized to her, which means we welcome her efforts. I’ve always told Robredo na maganda ginagawa niya, tuloy mo yan. Ang problema lang, wag yung ‘pag lumalabas siya eh parang siya lang yung nagtatrabaho,” said Panelo as tweeted by ANC alerts.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana who Panelo tagged as his source has also apologized to the Vice President for the misinformation that led to Duterte’s public outburst.
